Increase Web Site Traffic With a Call to Action

increase web site traffic

Using a Call to Action is a great way to increase web site traffic.

There are several ways to write your Call to Action, based upon your offer and your delivery method. Also, your offers can be combined to accelerate the sign up process.

Here are some examples of a Call to Action to get you started:

Instant Delivery

“The delivery process is automated. You can grab your copy instantly upon purchase…”

Remind your potential buyer that delivery is instant if you are promoting a digital product such as an E-Book or report.

Time-Based

“This offer will not last…”

Avoid using the until midnight close. Most savvy visitors know it’s really only a script at work. Unless you will really end the promotion at midnite, you should refrain from using this tactic to increase web site traffic.

Quantity Based

“A strict limit of 100 copies will be sold…”

You can advertise that you’re limiting the number of copies of your product. However, if you’re going to use this tactic, be sure to keep your word on it.

Using scarcity to sell has been proven to be an effective way to get a prospect to take action. By nature, people enjoy the privledge of ownership. You can use this factor to not only increase web site traffic, but also to increase your conversion rate and sales.

Fast Action Bonuses

“Act now and You’ll Also Receive…”

Getting a prospect to convert is getting tougher. Offering a bonus alone can sometimes not be enough, especially if you’re in a competitive niche. You can up the ante by offering time sensitive bonuses.

By taking advantage of a fast action bonus, a buyer can get rewarded more value. The money spent.

Use a “P.S.” to summarize your offer or reveal hidden benefits.

Here are some things worth summarizing in your P.S. or post-script:

  • It would be more expensive in terms of money, time and effort if your prospect seeks other solutions or alternatives than yours.
  • You can stress the Fast Action Bonuses and how scarce they are.
  • Stress how valuable it is to tackle the current problems right NOW and not later with your offer.

You can also use the P.S. to reveal other hidden benefits not mentioned earlier in your sales letter. It could be an unannounced bonus, guarantee statement or a reward for acting immediately. Your choice of low competition keywords here will support your call to action.

You can also choose to reveal even more praises and testimonials in an effort to encourage your prospect to act now and become your customer.

Using a Great Call to Action is a sure way to increase web site traffic. What’s the best one you’ve used?

Hi Dan – The best advice I’ve heard is to tell your prospect exactly what to do next. When you look at the most popular blogs, it’s the thing they all have in common. Thanks for visiting.

  • Sire says:

Yeah, I’ve fallen for almost every one of these at one time or another. :D

Truth be told I probably would have bought the product anyway but it may have been at a much later date and who knows, if the call to action didn’t work I may have bought a similar product from another site.

Welcome Back Sire – We are concentrating heavily on the steps to convert visitors into readers/buyers. We’ve found that too often the visitor is left to guide themselves. Asking them to perform specific functions has decreased our bounce rate.

      Thanks for the visit!

    Hi Michael,
That’s true. Many bloggers and internet marketers emphasize the need to use a call to action because most of the time, your readers won’t take action after visiting your blog or site and you need to point them in the right direction.
These are great tips. I can use these methods to craft a good sales copy. Thanks for the share!

I’m agree with Sire Michael, I’ve fallen for every single one of these as well.

People do need to be directed though on what to do next. It’s the same thing about leaving comments on a blog. If you don’t ask them to comment, the majority of them won’t and that’s one of the main reasons I never commented. We are a society that needs to be told what to do and what the next step is.

Have a sense of urgency about purchasing or signing up on your list because that will make people not want to miss out. That’s really your best bet although it’s been beaten to death. But it still works which is why people continue to use these.

Hi Adrienne – Yes, Sire has been around a while. He’s very experienced.

I agree that people need to be directed to the next action we’d like them to perform. I think the tricky part is to lead them without coming across as controlling. It’s a challenging balance.

Thank you so much for visiting!

  • Besides call-to-action, involve nifty and effective interface effects to instigate web user exploration within the site. That would be a better way to make your consumers know more about your website.
